Mac`s Time Out in Alton

This place has a unique charm. The open air feel give a sense of being somewhere special on vacation. Lots of Tv's and off track horse racing if you need a fix.....Everyone should check out Downtown Alton !

Great environment! Something for everyone

Tonight's dinner special was AMAZING and at such a good price. 11.99 for a 4oz filet, with 3 large shrimp scampi, a generous side of angel hair Alfredo plus another side of your choice. The filet was so tender and tasty. The Alfredo sauce was perfect. Loved every bite. Plus it server was attentive, timely, accurate and super friendly. Mac's is always fun. Good service, good food, not expensive. They closed off the street for the all-60s high school reunion, had a band, DJ, and we had a great time.

Some staff was fantastic . Some acted as they DID NOT want to be there .

It has the best beer garden ever. The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. The owner mac, he really cares about his customers. Everyone is very friendly. My favorite place to be.

Really good food for brunch. We arrived a little before noon and there was limited seating available and we're seated right away. Most of the food was fresh. The brisket and prime rib were my favorites. My wife had a freshly prepared omlet and it was made perfectly. Only drawback was the service. Couldn't get a refill for anything. Had to go to the bar and serve thy self. That would have been fine if they told us that to start with. Have always received great service in the bar just not in the dining room.

Great food and atmosphere. I love being able to sit outside and still be comfortable all year round! The only issue is the same ongoing issue with them double charging you when you use a card. It's been over 10 years and with all the business they have you would think they could afford a new system. Sadly if you're from around this area and want to go to Mac's and are low on cash, you come to almost expect it. That's terrible.

Great place really enjoyed myself

Lots of space to serve your needs from family dinning, watching the ponies or a cocktail in the bar. A unique space that gives a patio harden feel on a cold day. With a welcoming feeling of the local pub, we stopped in for some appetizers and a cocktail on a Saturday afternoon. We had the housemaid fried mushrooms which were awesome and highly recommended we would definitely order the mushrooms again & the cocktails were spot on! We would definitely make an effort to try more menu options the next time we are downtown.

Food was ok.Service was ok. Dr pepper didnt taste right. Too smokey in the non smoking area. Tbey need to close the doors.

Food was great and Ashley are waiteress was a sweetheart as always. Thank you Mack's for another great outing for our group.

The great food matches the great value. One of my favorite places to go. We enjoy the atmosphere too.

Good food, great atmosphere on the patio. Server was rude and snapped at me for requesting a menu. Really, I'm not exaggerating. Then she forgot my margarita and my mom had to hunt her down. I won't be back anytime soon.

Downtown Alton location. Parking good but not great. Good food at fair prices. Restrooms are a nightmare and it's hard to believe they have ever been cleaned or inspected. Yeeeccchhh.

Just returned from the Thanksgiving Buffet. It was so delicious! May become a tradition.

Place needs repair. Wedding did not receive all food they paid for. Had to have a guest repair dance floor the day before reception. Area had been pointed out by bride at walk through and was assured it would be fixed.

Good food good drinks nice to get out

Our second round of drinks was a different price than our first, even though we ordered the same thing. After we paid we questioned our server about the prices and she was rude and defensive.

I loved the atmosphere and the service was fast and our waitress was friendly. My issue is....I have come here 3 separate times with quite a large group.....none of the mixed drinks tasted any good.....the Mudslide tasted like a milkshake...I figured I would switch drinks but ...the next drink tasted like water......and the third drink .....an amaretto sour ordered wasn't anything close to what it should be. A huge waste of money.When we ordered chese and fries.....there was so much cheese that you had to scoop half of it away to find the fries which were soggy.....we didn't even eat them. Disgusting. Other food ordered was overcooked and hard to chew. Very disappointing. We won't come back.

Always a joy to be here. The menu has a wide variety. The food is always amazing. The staff is so friendly that they are practically part of the family.

Great place to go. My wife said the steak are delicious. Price not bad either.

So happy to see them back on again just give my friend that hadn't been there and we will be back Philly steak sandwich is huge I love their white Alaskan fish big Grange menu

Relaxing atmosphere, good reasonable food

Bacon cheeseburger and steak fries were good. We had a friendly and attentive server. I always enjoy stopping here.

So some one at macs tested positive for covid this person was working there the day he was tested.. im sure he wasnt wearing a mask he was supposed to be quarantined until august 1st so if you have ate there been there or ordered out might wanna either quarantine or go get tested

We will start with the good, waitress was personable and friendly. Now the bad, there seemed to be no effort to social distance, they were shoulder to shoulder at the bar and no tables blocked off when I arrived. Then the food, I had the special, Tutta Mare, it looked good as they were pushing it as a special. But, it took over 1.5 hours to arrived, it was cold and unappealing and looked nothing like the picture. Also, there were bites and pieces I had to pic out as it was like chewing rubber. Truly the worst meal I have ever had in Alton and very close to the worst overall, wait, I can't think of a worst meal when it comes to food and only the friendly waitress saved it from being the worst overall experience

Good place for brunch. Have a little bit of everything on the buffet and can't be beat for the money. The waitresses were awful. Couldn't get a refill for anything. Had to walk to the bar and ask them to come by our table.

Couldn’t eat half my order because the mozzarella stick were flat and mush potato salad had no flavor the burger is nothing to rave about super disappointed!

Horrible service and bad food. We were greeted by an apathetic employee. The drinks we ordered were made wrong. The food was under cooked and did not taste good. Definitely not a place to go to eat.
